What is Golden Key?
Golden Key International Honour Society, founded on 29 November 1977, is an academic honor society that recognizes and encourages scholastic achievement and excellence among college and university students from all academic disciplines. The Society is focused on connecting high-achieving individuals locally, regionally & globally with lifetime opportunity, reward & success. Membership is by invitation only. Members are offered over $600,000 (USD) annually through numerous scholarship and award programs. Members are also connected to exclusive career opportunities and assistance through Golden Key's partnerships with major corporations and graduate programs. The Society provides campus and community service opportunities enabling personal growth and leadership development as well as collaborating with university faculty and administrators to develop and maintain high standards of education. How do I join?
To receive a membership invitation you must meet the following prerequisites:
1. You must be a student pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree at an accredited institution with a chapter;
2. You are a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student; and,
3. You must be in the top 15% (based on GPA).
I received an email about being invited to join, but never an official letter. What happened?
BYU sends out the letters of invitation based on the personal contact information a student has saved on Route Y. If you have not received your letter, it is most likely that the letter was sent to your parents' home address or to an older address if your information on Route Y is not up to date. You can email memberservices@goldenkey.org about your situation and ask them to resend your letter.
I won't be able to attend the official induction ceremony. Am I still eligible to join?
Yes! While we strongly encourage you to attend the induction ceremony in order to be officially recognized for your achievements and receive additional information about the benefits of your new membership, attendance is not mandatory to be a member.
I never received my membership certificate. Can I still get it?
Yes. Just email memberservices@goldenkey.org with your name (and new address if you have moved) and they will send you your certificate. You can also call member services at 1-800-377-2401.
After graduation am I still a member?
Yes. Once you complete the application process and pay the one-time membership fee, you are a member for life.
